Mosselman 300CR and 300SLR

In the early 1990s a Dutch tuner named Mosselman Turbo Systems created some interest by creating two stunning Mercedes conversions. Mosselman was already a rather big name making turbo charger systems for different brands of cars, mainly BMW and Mercedes. But with these three new cars they entered the complete car arena. All three cars were undoubtly inspired by the racing heritage of Mercedes-Benz, mainly from the time Mercedes racing cars were all silver, the so called "Silver Arrows".
Mosselman wasn`t really a tuner that paid too much attention to exterior modifications of the Mercedes cars they fitted the Turbos to. But when Mosselman learned that many of his customers in Asia bought a car from him and then brought it to another tuning company (AMG, Brabus, etc) to fit it with spoilers and new wheels. After several requests Mosselman thought to himself: "I can do that!!" Because there were a lot of spoilers and body kits for sale already Mosselman was eager to create something really different.
The cars Mosselman converted were the Mercedes-Benz 300SL R129 model and the Mercedes-Benz 300CE W124 model. The cars were name 300SLR and 300CR respectively to All models have the same racy look: all of them sprayed in "Mercedes-Silver", partially silvered windows, colorfull Group-C rear view mirrors, black 6-spoke 18inch OZ-wheels, carbon fibre trunk spoiler. The 300CR (CE) even has the front bumper and front wing of the Mercedes 500E. The rear wings for the 300CR are custom made. The cars are fitted with new vents in de bonnet and doors, racy tank filler caps and a more sporty interior with new seats and steering wheel.
Both the 300SLR and 300CR have Mercedes` 3 litre straight sixes. Mosselman installed two T25 Garret turbos which boost the power output to 340 BHP. The torque of the car reaches a maximum of 423 Nm at 4000 rpm. This means excelent acceleration at any speed:
0 - 100 km/h 6,4 sec
50 - 100 km/h 8,8 sec (in 5th gear)
80 - 120 km/h 4,5 sec (in 4th gear)
80 - 120 km/h 6,1 sec (in 5th gear)
100 - 200 km/h 17,8 sec
100 - 200 km/h 18,5 sec (in 5th gear)
Compared to the top range in 1993 the Mosselman cars were really the kings. Especially the 50-100 and 80-120 sprints were fenomenal, outclassing cars like the Porsche 928 GTS, Ferrari 512 TR and the Corvette ZR-1. Both cars didn`t come cheap, but both looks and the performance were top-notch!
