Labdien,
es slikti runaju Latviski, bet es mazos. Man w123 Unsiversals was rebuilt, but some things are still missing.
My Steering has 10cm failure. And it was alredy reseted several times. Slowly it gets dangerous.
Does anybody know where I can overhaul it in Latvija?

I think it would be much easier to change the whole steering gear, because the older it gets, the larger failure is progressing.

But I think all the steering gear have after 26 to 34 years the same issues.
I go once one in Cēsis but it was worse then my one.

Looks like someone in the forum called `plash` may have an answer or two to your problem. He seems to know W123 very well. I dont think I have ever heard of rehauling the steering box of that type. It`s the steering rack on younger models that can be restored very well in Latvia.

Are you guys crazy? It`s W123...All parts can be bought separately for a small amount of money
Even if the gears inside steering rack are dead it can be renovated or assambled from others. Where you found out 10cm ??? How did you get TA then?:fingals:

In Germany (my old home) costs an overhaul about 800 euros (by propper repairshop incl warranty)
New part at MB is a bit less then 3000 euro.

I have already repaired everything else which could cause such a problem except the most expensive part.

TA in Latvia was never a problem for me. Last time they were just amazed that such an old car can look so good.

If I could get all parts separately I still need somebody who can do it and knows what he does.

My advice - show me the car, and then we can find the part in normal condition and make minimal adjustments. I don`t believe that steering is such a big problem. My w123 was ok with it, and the new owner crashed it ...so we have at least 1 ok part in LV

die Erfahrung zeigt, dass Sie ganz ruhig mit dem Herrn Plashs zusammenarbeiten können, er kennt diesen Typen vom Mercedes- Benz sehr gut und er kennt auch die Ortschaften, wo man Neu- und Gebrauchtteile finden kann.

Wo Sie aufpassen müssten, sind unsere Teilenlieferanten, immer muss man alle Preise mit Online Preisen auf Ebay vergleichen.

At the moment is my Benz in a Hangar to take a rest till the next spring.
(I am afraid of the salt on the streets). If you would drive it you would immediately understand what I mean. The steering does not anymore come back to the middle position by itself and you feel some differences in power you need to turn it.

Maybe we should really get in contact. Because I need till next spring also the Ignition distributor with 2 vacuum connections. I had converted the car from manual to automatic transmission. So I should also change the ignition distributor
